We recently changed how we send chat to your Minecraft client. Player to player chat messages are now classed differently as “system” messages, allowing your client to filter out messages based on your settings and block/mute list.

This might have caused you to only see chat from Xbox Live friends, or no chat at all. Luckily, this is something you can simply fix yourself:

• Visit the Xbox Account Settings
• Make sure the setting “Others can communicate with voice, text or invites” is set to “Everyone”

If you can’t change this setting yourself, it might be because your account is managed by a parent or guardian. They should be able to change this setting for your account, if they agree to do so.
