An update to Murder Mystery is deploying to all regions. This update focuses on addressing player feedback and fixing bugs from the recent Deadly Dealings update.

Bux

• Increased the Bux spawn rate

• Increased max Bux from 20 to 30

• Bux now grant 10XP when collected

• Tweaked Bux item costs:

  • Body Armor: 8 → 6

  • Chorus Fruit: 4 → 2

  • Decoy Player: 4 → 2

  • Flash Camera: 5 → 4

  • Knockback Nemo: 6 → 5

Challenges

• Daily challenges now grant 5 Bux on completion

• Balanced a subset of daily challenges:

  • I Voted: 25 Map Votes → 5 Map Votes

  • Snoopy: 10 Gravestone Investigations → 3 Gravestone Investigations

  • Snack Time: 10 Vending Machines → 3 Vending Machines

  • Finders Keepers: Find 10 Bux → Find 5 Bux

  • Money Bags: Spend 50 Bux → Spend 10 Bux

• Modified the “That’s Lit” flashlight daily challenge to count seconds instead of whole minutes

Changes

• Doubled the XP gained from collecting coins from 2 XP to 4 XP

• Increased the volume of death sounds

• Changed the Gravestone Smasher from a single-use item to 3 uses

• Reverted to the old dropped Sheriff magnifying glass asset

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where the bow counter UI showed the incorrect coin count

• Fixed an issue that caused Knockback Nemo to no longer work as intended

• Fixed an issue where the Player Sonar item was not removed after use

• Fixed an issue that caused interactables to show usable particles before they were usable

It's time to get your sleuth on! Murder Mystery's biggest update is here, with a brand-new microhub, challenges, new features, and an array of epic new cosmetics to unlock!

New Features

• Added Magnifying Glass for Sheriffs:

  • Inspect gravestones to reveal the Murderer's footprints and information about how the player was eliminated

  • Inspect the area around you to reveal traps placed by the Murderer

• Added Bux:

  • A new currency that spawns around the map

  • Your Bux balance persists between rounds, and you can hold a maximum of 20 at one time

• Added Bux Store:

  • A shady merchant who can be found on each map, selling various items in exchange for Bux, depending on your role

  • Items that can be purchased by the Murderer:

    • Trap: A placable trap that, when stood on by an innocent, temporarily traps them in place

    • Gravestone Smasher: Allows you to destroy a gravestone of your choice

    • Player Sonar: Briefly spawns locator beacons on each player

    • Imposter Tome: Changes your skin to throw innocents off the scent

    • Decoy Zapper: Places a fake Zapper in your hot bar

    • Knockback Nemo: A one-time use item that knocks the player you hit back

  • Items that can be purchased by Innocents and the Sheriff:

    • Body Armor: A one-time-use chestplate that blocks a single attack

    • Knockback Nemo: A one-time use item that knocks the player you hit back

    • Decoy Player: Spawns a fake player, and alerts you if it’s killed by the Murderer

    • Flash Camera: Temporarily stuns surrounding players with a bright light

    • Chorus Fruit - Teleports you to a random location

• Added the Challenge Board and Challenge Merchant: Complete unique objectives that reward Challenge Medals, which can be exchanged for exclusive cosmetics

Developer note: When we originally announced this update, we mentioned an accompanying limited-time mode. We know some of you have been waiting for it, and we want to be upfront about where things stand.

Over the last year, a significant portion of the team's focus has shifted toward our upcoming MMO server, Skyblock Horizons. As a result, development time for the LTM was limited, and it ultimately didn't meet the quality standards we hold ourselves to. Rather than ship something that doesn't feel right, we decided to hold it back.

We haven't shelved it for good, and we want to revisit it later on down the line. We're sorry it won't be part of this release, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. We hope you still find plenty to enjoy in the update itself!

Due to an issue with a Minecraft system, purchases made on the Hive Marketplace Store with Minecoins are currently not being granted.

We expect this to be resolved shortly. Once the issue has been resolved, any purchases made will be automatically granted upon the next join to The Hive.

Minecraft Bedrock 26.20, releasing today, introduces a native Party System to Minecraft, in Beta status.

Currently, support and integration between The Hive and the native Minecraft parties is very basic: you’ll be able to see and follow the party leader into The Hive, but without features such as game and hub auto-switching. If your region is different than that of the party leader, you’ll connect to your own region, not that of the leader.

We intend to support basic auto creation of Hive parties based on your game party in the near future, which will enable server-side party auto follow.

As the game party system expands in future Minecraft game updates, we’ll fully integrate with the system for the best experience. For now, we suggest utilizing the Hive (server-side) party system to access all features.
